The buzz around Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone is intensifying, with fresh reports suggesting that the tech giant could be inching closer to mass production. Speculation surrounding its launch timeline has been a hot topic, and according to discussions on the YouTube channel Geared Up, the highly anticipated device could be unveiled by the end of next year.
A Potential ‘iPhone Ultra’ Name?
While Apple has yet to confirm any details, there have been growing speculations regarding what the foldable iPhone might be called. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who was a guest on Geared Up, has floated the idea that Apple may adopt the name ‘iPhone Ultra’ for its groundbreaking foldable device.
Gurman previously speculated that the iPhone 15 Pro Max might have been branded as the iPhone 15 Ultra, but Apple ultimately chose not to use the moniker. However, he suggests that the foldable iPhone, given its significance as a premium-tier innovation, might be the perfect fit for the ‘Ultra’ name, distinguishing it from standard iPhone models.
Expected Launch Timeline
Gurman believes Apple could announce the foldable iPhone by the end of next year. A separate report also supports this possibility, indicating that the company is in the process of finalizing suppliers for the device’s components. An unveiling in the second half of 2026 appears to be a strong possibility.
Premium Features, Premium Price
According to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s foldable iPhone may lack Face ID due to design limitations. Additionally, the device is expected to command a premium price, potentially reaching a staggering $2,500.
If the reports hold true, Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone space could set a new standard in the industry, reinforcing its reputation for innovation. As excitement builds, tech enthusiasts will be eagerly awaiting further updates on the potential ‘iPhone Ultra.’
