Sea of Thieves Season 8 Out Now with on-Demand PVP Mode and More

Sea of Thieves

Earlier this year, Rare announced that Sea of Thieves would be getting a new PvP mode that would replace the Arena mode. Now, the new PvP mode is available to play in the game as part of the latest free season 8 content update. The update is available for free to all Sea of Thieves players who have bought the game on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11 PC or via Steam, or players who have access to it with Xbox Game Pass. The mode will allow players to join a faction and fight against other pirate crews. It is an opt-in system, so players can choose to represent their faction or not.

The new PvP system will work within the shared Adventure world. Players will choose between two factions, the Pirate Lord and Guardians of Fortune. Choosing a faction will allow players to battle for their faction’s rewards, cosmetics, and more.

Players can also opt into on-demand PvP ship battles. When a ship enters a PvP area, it will submerge and prepare for battle. Players can then join the fight via the Hourglass of Fate, which is found in the captain’s cabin.

The new update also introduces a number of other changes to the game. Among other changes, the Golden Sands outpost will undergo a major makeover. The outpost will also feature new ships, cosmetics, and more. The free update will also include a new search for worthy foes. Below you can find the download size of the free update on different platforms.

Season Eight also offers 100 levels of rewards for all players to unlock by just playing the game and raising their Renown – rewards including cosmetics, gold and Ancient Coins. Players also have the option of purchasing the latest Plunder Pass to access premium items not yet available anywhere else!
